The posting, as the company wrote it
TL;DR: Lovable is growing fast and needs someone who has spent the last few years in the thick of AI contracting — negotiating with the labs and the clouds, structuring new AI product and partnership initiatives, and closing enterprise deals — and who uses AI to move at ~10× the standard speed. This role can be based in NYC, Stockholm or London.
WHY LOVABLE?
Lovable is the software creation platform that gives people the power to act on the problems closest to them. For decades, turning an idea into software required so much capital, technical fluency, and time that many ideas never came to life. Lovable is the counterargument: a platform for all people with ideas, ambition, and problems worth solving. From solopreneurs to small business owners to teams at companies like Adidas and Zendesk, people have built over 60 million projects on Lovable since its launch in November 2024. And we’re just getting started.
We’re building a generational company from Stockholm, with growing teams in London, Boston, New York, and San Francisco. Our team is small, talent-dense, and moving quickly, with a culture rooted in extreme ownership, high velocity, and low-ego collaboration. We look for people who care deeply, ship fast, and are eager to make a dent in the world.
Lovable is one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies and has been recognized on the Forbes AI 50 and CNBC Disruptor 50, reflecting our momentum as one of Europe’s fastest-growing AI companies and one of the most ambitious places to build in this next era of software.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Relevant experience: 8+ years legal experience, including 3+ years in-house at an AI-native startup or scale-up (Series B–D preferred) where AI product and partnership contracting was core to your role. Experience with high visibility deals on both the buy and sell side, and the sticking points and solutions that come with them.
- Been in the arena: You've negotiated with hyperscalers and frontier labs and know the current state of play on model access, usage commitments and credits, pricing and rate limits, data-use and training restrictions, acceptable-use flow-downs, and output indemnities — because you've been living these terms since the first LLM products shipped.
- Product counsel instincts: Comfortable counseling product and partnership leaders on new AI initiatives from the whiteboard stage — spotting the contracting, IP, data, and licensing issues early and structuring deals so they actually ship.
- High-velocity sales partner: Trusted partner who navigates legal friction, finds workable solutions in real time, and builds scalable approaches to reduce cycles.
- Master of the deal: Comfortable drafting/negotiating MSAs, Enterprise T&Cs, DPAs, model/API and inference agreements, embedded-provider and OEM terms, and marketplace/reseller terms from scratch.
- Solutions over playbooks: Handles bespoke, complex deals; partners with Product, Partnerships, Sales, Security, and Finance to align quickly in ambiguous situations.
- Commercial judgment: Explains issues from a business perspective; frames risk and tradeoffs like a business partner.
- Pragmatic risk tolerance: Comfortable making high-stakes decisions with imperfect facts; balances long-term protection with urgency to win market share.
- Bias for action and brevity: Prefers quick calls or concise written guidance vs. lengthy memos.
- Understands AI + AI companies: Fluent in AI governance, model-training and data-use concerns, and the LLM provider vs. AI system deployer distinction; familiar with the EU AI Act, GDPR, DORA, the Data Act, and the emerging US state AI and privacy landscape.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own strategic AI deals: Lead negotiation of agreements with hyperscalers, frontier labs, and key technology partners.
- Partner with Product and Partnerships: Be the go-to counsel for new product and partnership initiatives; structure the deal, surface the issues early, and get it over the line.
- Support GTM and Sales: Independently negotiate MSAs, enterprise T&Cs, DPAs, and other tech agreements with customers.
- Raise the floor: Use Lovable and other AI tools to extend leverage, reduce cycle times, and increase deal velocity.
- Regulatory translation: Stay ahead of the EU AI Act, GDPR, the Data Act, and US developments; turn compliance into competitive advantage via commercial terms.
- Audit-ready hygiene: Keep deals clean, documented, and consistent.
THE CHALLENGE
This role is about being the trusted operator on hard and unique deals — whether the counterparty is a hyperscaler, a frontier lab, or a Fortune 500 buyer: turning complex commercial and regulatory issues into clean, defensible positions, and using automation to keep pace with Lovable’s ship fast objectives.
