The Role We’re hiring a Software Engineer to join our Business Systems team, working on the systems that run Ohme’s business across multiple markets. You will start where the business runs today: maintaining and extending our Odoo ERP and shipping new functionality for teams across the company. Alongside that, we are building a set of focused, independently deployable services that each own a single business capability behind a clearly defined contract. Expect roughly a 70/30 split between the two to begin with, shifting steadily towards the new build as it matures. This suits someone who wants to understand a business properly before rebuilding it, rather than someone looking for greenfield from day one. What you’ll do Build and support Odoo modules and new independently deployable Python services, working to agreed specs (and challenging them early) Work with finance, operations and customer care to turn real process problems into well-built solutions Integrate the ERP with new services through versioned APIs and event schemas, with sensible idempotency, retry and replay behaviour Build fast, clear internal UIs (React for new work) for teams doing the same task all day Ship tested, documented, instrumented code, with tracing, alerting and reconciliation checks that prove the new path matches the old What you’ll bring 3 to 5 years of professional engineering experience with strong Python, backend services in production, and solid SQL and data modelling AWS, containers and CI/CD across environments, ideally with AWS CDK Comfort using AI coding tools while reviewing their output as rigorously as your own code Frontend capability with a modern framework, and the confidence to own a feature end to end Curiosity about how the business works, and ease working directly with non-technical users in an established codebase (Odoo or other ERP experience is a plus, not a requirement) Our Benefits Competitive salary and bonus Hybrid office - 3 days a week in office Private Health Insurance Pension Scheme Life Assurance Scheme with death in service benefit of 4x salary Income Protection Scheme for long term illness Ride to Work Scheme Payroll Giving Scheme Season Ticket Loan to spread cost of travel over 12 months Eye Test every 2 years Please note that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
