Collaborate with an editor and/or full-time newsletter author(s)
Help fill longer coverage gaps occasionally, (e.g. 1-3 months) as needed
What success looks like:
You deliver clean, accurate, engaging copy on deadline
You surface story ideas that resonate with local readers
You adapt quickly to feedback and sharpen your work over time
What we’re looking for:
Strong news judgment and clean, concise writing

Equally comfortable doing original reporting and smart aggregation
Experience with newsletters or audience-focused writing
Familiarity with our Smart Brevity style (or willingness to learn fast)
Strong communication skills and experience working in a remote environment
A self-starter: While you may be assigned some stories, you'll be counted on to bring executable ideas forward every day
Who this is for:
Experienced local reporters and journalists
Writers seeking flexible, part-time temporary work
Former newsroom reporters or editors looking to stay engaged
Strong independent contributors comfortable with remote workflows
