Who are we?👋
Look at the latest headlines and you will see something Ki insures. Think space shuttles, world tours, wind farms, and even footballers’ legs.
Ki’s mission is simple. Digitally disrupt and revolutionise a 335-year-old market. Working with Google and UCL, Ki has created a platform that uses algorithms, machine learning and large language models to give insurance brokers quotes in seconds, rather than days.
Ki is proudly the biggest global algorithmic insurance carrier. It is the fastest growing syndicate in the Lloyd's of London market, and the first ever to make $100m in profit in 3 years.
Ki’s teams have varied backgrounds and work together in an agile, cross-functional way to build the very best experience for its customers. Ki has big ambitions but needs more excellent minds to challenge the status-quo and help it reach new horizons.
Where you come in?
As our Manager for Non-Natural Catastrophe Modelling, you’ll lead our team to provide our underwriters with a fast, consistent, and accurate service that aligns with our risk aggregation strategy. By ensuring we have complete and accurate exposure data and modelled loss information, you’ll empower us to deliver high-quality reporting to key stakeholders and meet our regulatory requirements. Your work will directly enhance our understanding of our risk profile, allowing us to deploy aggregate efficiently and capture exciting new market opportunities. You’ll spearhead the development and implementation of best-practice modelling processes, tools, and analytical reporting, aligning these functions across our different lines of business. In this role, you’ll lead daily operations and build strong, collaborative relationships with our outsourced partners and wider risk aggregation teams to deliver outstanding results. You’ll also lead and support our Non-Natural Catastrophe Analyst and manage risk aggregation activity for all non-natural classes.
What you will be doing: 🖋️
Collaborate with risk aggregation team members and other key functions (capital modelling, actuarial, and ERM) to ensure modelling processes and assumptions align closely, operate effectively, and meet regulatory standards.
Deliver highly accurate and timely pricing, rollup, analytics, management information, and reporting to relevant stakeholders, including underwriting and ORI placement teams.
Manage the quality of exposure data and direct the production of data from Ki's processing teams.
Provide subject matter expertise to support wider risk aggregation projects and key deliverables, such as the Ki view of risk and ORI.
Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including model vendors and brokers.
Support and assist other members of the Risk Aggregation team as needed to achieve mutual success.
Work cross-functionally to support product development and continuously advance Ki's view of risk across diverse classes of business and product offerings.
Collaborate across teams to support the identification and delivery of new revenue opportunities.
Requirements
Strong technical understanding of non-natural classes (cyber, political risk, contingency) and (re)insurance industry concepts.
Good comprehension of actuarial concepts is desirable.
Advanced IT and technical skills, particularly in MS Excel, VBA, and SQL; knowledge of other programming languages is a plus.
Strong ability to collaborate with third-party relationships and outsourced partners to deliver high-quality results.
Effective people leadership skills, with the ability to lead, train, and coach a modelling team (experience managing overseas teams is highly desirable).
Strong project management skills to coordinate multiple modelling and risk aggregation initiatives.
Exceptional analytical and numeracy skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workloads effectively, and deliver results within agreed timeframes.
Commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
