This role provides finance business partnering to Sales and support departments, giving budget holders the insight and challenge they need to make good decisions. It also runs the monthly planning and reporting cycle: consolidated management reporting, the rolling forecast and the main financial model.
Job Description
ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
We’re looking for a commercially minded Finance Business Partner who is equally comfortable challenging a sales deal and running a month-end reporting cycle. This position reports to the Head of FP&A and works alongside the Senior Finance Business Partner. The role is the first point of contact for finance across Sales, Innovation and the central functions, and owns the preparation of consolidated reporting and forecasts.
Act as Finance Business Partner to Sales, Innovation, and support functions, providing insight, analysis and challenge to support decision-making.
Support Sales on bid and deal pricing, contract margin analysis and commercial terms, ensuring deals are financially sound before approval.
Translate the sales pipeline into the revenue forecast, working with Sales and Service Delivery to track conversion, timing and risk.
Track R&D and innovation spend against budget; support grant funding claims (e.g. UKSA, ESA, Innovate UK) and the annual R&D tax credit claim.
Own overhead budgets for the central functions, including headcount, software licences and third-party costs; monitor actuals vs budget and explain variances.
Prepare the monthly consolidated management report for the group, ensuring it is accurate, consistent and delivered on time.
Coordinate monthly business review commentary, drafting it for own areas and consolidating input from the Senior Finance Business Partner.
Run the forecast cycle: collect inputs from budget holders, update the main forecast model and highlight key movements, risks and opportunities.
Maintain and develop the main financial model, including scenario analysis, keeping it well documented and controlled.
Support the annual budget and longer-term planning process.
Prepare ad-hoc analysis and business cases for investment and spend approval.
Improve reporting and forecasting processes through automation and better use of planning and BI tools.
Provide financial training and support to budget holders across own business areas.
