The posting, as the company wrote it
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars.
SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.
ELECTRICIAN, CONSTRUCTION
As a Construction Electrician, you will install and terminate new electrical infrastructure: conduit, cable tray, underground duct bank, cable, wire, and 480 V building and feeder work. This is a build job, not an operating-plant job — pull, land, and energize new equipment from drawings, then turn it over. You will follow lockout/tagout and grounding procedures and support first energization of new 480 V systems. This position is based in Southaven, MS.
This is an hourly position with overtime. Expect 80% or more travel on a rotation, with per diem.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, terminate, and land new campus electrical equipment, including breakers, transformers, switches, buswork, control systems, and batteries at 480 V
Install conduit, cable tray, cable, wire, and terminations per issued-for-construction drawings; perform underground duct bank, trench, and cable-pull work
Perform installation quality checks and electrical testing (voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation megger) and assist with acceptance and commissioning tests on new gear
Read and interpret construction drawings, one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and work orders
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), grounding, clearance procedures, NFPA 70E, and PPE requirements on an active construction site
Uncrate, set, and dress equipment; climb structures; operate hand and power tools, pulls, blowers, pumps, and portable generators
Support construction energization sequences, punch-list closeout, and turnover to operations with engineers and vendors
Document work performed, test results, and as-built markups
Operate company vehicles and specialized equipment; inspect and store personal protective equipment (PPE)
Perform similar or less skilled incidental duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
Current state journeyman electrician license
5+ years of industrial or data center electrical construction installing conduit, tray, duct bank, cable, and 480 V terminations
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Ability to read construction drawings, one-lines, manuals, and work packages
Proficiency with common electrical test tools (multimeter, megger, ammeter) and construction hand and power tools
Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and lockout/tagout (LOTO)
Tennessee or Mississippi journeyman electrician license; OR equivalent state journeyman license with the ability to obtain TN or MS
Industrial, manufacturing, or data center construction experience building raceway and cable plant
Experience on large-scale, multi-site construction projects that required a travel rotation
OSHA 30 or equivalent construction safety training in addition to NFPA 70E
Knowledge of print reading for drawings, manuals, and one-lines
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Hourly position with overtime; willingness to work nights, weekends, and extended shifts during construction and energization
Ability and willingness to travel 80% or more on a construction rotation; per diem and/or housing provided while on site
Schedule varies depending on site operational needs; frequent overtime and weekend support is required
Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working on ladders/lifts at elevated heights
Ability to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, noise, heat, cold, and rain
Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
