About the Team
The Strategy & Operations team at DoorDash is the driving force behind the In-Store business line’s long-term growth and operational excellence. We work cross-functionally to develop and execute key initiatives that align with In-Store's strategic goals, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and optimal performance across the organization. Our team is focused on leveraging data-driven insights, improving processes, and guiding business decisions that enhance customer experience and foster company-wide innovation.
About the Role
DoorDash is looking for a senior Associate Manager, Strategy & Operations to own and accelerate global payments growth for our In-Store business. This is a role where analytical rigor turns directly into growth, for our merchants and for us.
Substantive growth: Your analysis drives monetization that grows merchants’ businesses, which in turn grows ours. Every payments feature that lands helps a venue secure deposits, reduce no-shows, or sell more online.
High visibility: Your work ties directly to the three outcomes the business cares most about: payments attach rate, online GMV per venue, and take rate. You’ll be goaled on them and bring your recommendations directly to senior leadership.
Real ownership: You’ll be the strategic “train conductor” for payments, getting Product, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Legal moving in the same direction without direct authority.
The ideal candidate is an autonomous owner who thrives in ambiguity, understands how payment gateways, Merchant of Record (MoR) models, and transaction fees work in B2B SaaS, and can turn complex data into decisions.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
Raise adoption and GMV per venue: Run experimentation across the whole funnel to grow adoption of payment-driving features (e.g., deposits, cancellation fees, pre-paid experiences). That means shaping pre-sales monetization, sizing the prize for Product, landing quick wins with Product Marketing, and pointing Customer Success and Account Managers to whitespace in the base.
Solve payments adoption: Diagnose and remove what keeps merchants from adopting payments. It comes down to three things: fees, integrations, and customer effort (time and complexity). Each maps to a different cross-functional partner, and you’ll conduct the train across all of them: setting success metrics, assigning DRIs, and removing or escalating roadblocks to keep timelines on track.
Place product bets: Partner with Product to identify, size, test, and launch new transactional capabilities across events, gift cards, upgrade templates, marketplace, and merchant tooling.
Place GTM bets: Own our transactional economic model, including take rates, processing fees, consumer pass-through options, pricing sensitivity, and card mix economics, to maximize payments revenue while incentivizing merchant GMV growth. Build the onboarding motions and playbooks Sales and Customer Success run in market.
Shape strategy with data: Size market opportunities, analyze segment performance and closed-lost deals, and monitor competitive dynamics, making sure global strategies account for local nuances. Build the dashboards, KPIs, and narratives that turn data into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
We’re excited about you because…
Analytics and modeling: 5-7 years of experience in management consulting, finance, or Strategy & Operations, ideally in a high-growth tech or B2B SaaS environment. Strong data analysis skills, high spreadsheet comfort, and the ability to build financial models that evaluate opportunities and translate into actionable recommendations.
Payments or monetization fluency: You understand how payment processors, gateways, Merchant of Record models, transaction fees, chargebacks, and online GMV dynamics work in a transactional business.
Influence without authority: You bring cross-functional teams together, come to meetings with a clear point of view, push back and ask hard questions when needed, and drive consensus across the finish line.
Autonomous ownership: You take highly ambiguous problems, structure them into actionable plans, and deliver when you say you will with minimal oversight, juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
Payments platform experience: Background at or working closely with Stripe, Adyen, FreedomPay, or a similar processor.
Tooling: Experience with Salesforce, Looker, and Gong.
Experimentation design: Experience designing and reading out pricing, packaging, or GTM experiments.
Customer centricity: A deep sense of empathy for merchant challenges and pain points.
